Wow, that was fast!
Thank you, Brady. I think I've only seen maybe two species, but never ones with markings like this. I have a second photo of a different individual (there were several of these on the underside of a piece of wood caught in the river) that shoes off the yellow legs better. Should I include this picture?

Sure, go ahead. There are several other elmid taxa that like to hang out on wood so it might be good to post a couple photos if you're seeing things that look different.

I've caught many elmids, including Macronychus, by the dozens or even hundreds by simply pulling wood out of water and letting it dry on the shore. Pretty soon, there are many elmids walking around looking for a wet spot.
