Male - Polistes metricus - male

Male - Polistes metricus - Male
Duval County, Florida, USA
November 16, 2011
Size: 6/8"
This is the male I paired the previously viewed queen with. He emerged from a nest whose inhabitants had already vacated. Since newborn wasps can't fly, I decided to take him for what I thought would only be for a little while. However when I tried to release him, (Several times on warm, sunny days,) he wouldn't go, so I kept him. I fed and interacted with his mother and sisters before they left the nest.
