notice the squared-off corner
notice the squared-off corners of the pronotum in the anterior view. The only other small phengodid in calif is Cenophengus debilis, which has rounded anterior and posterior pronotal corners. This is Distremocephalus californicus (Van Dyke). Used to be Mastinocerus....females and larvae are unknown
