Where do you get your sand fr
Where do you get your sand from? It looks like pure silica.

 
Glass beads
Yeah, if only I could write "from the sunbaked pure white sand beaches along the River Spree here in Berlin". :-)

This was sent to me by a friend. I think it's the sort of thing used for sandblasting, but perhaps I purer mixture? On the lid it says "Glass 300-400". These little glass beads are very slippery -- don't ever spill them on the floor!

There's also an entomological provider in England that sells "Carefully selected FINE GLASS BEADS 80#", 35 gms for 2 pounds. What my friend Lothar sent me will hopefully last a decade or so.

If interested, you might ask around at a nearby body shop or diecasting shop as I think they use something like this for parts cleaning and/or matte-finishing. The biggest problem otherwise is getting small quantities (who needs 25 kg?).

I'm surprised that Bioquip doesn't offer something like this, but didn't see anything last time I looked.
