Very large spider - Dolomedes tenebrosus

Very large spider - Dolomedes tenebrosus
Ottawa (but see remarks), Ontario, Canada
June 30, 2006
Size: Body 24 mm, 70 mm total
This very large spider was given to me by a landscaper. It was found in Ottawa, but he thought it had arrived in a shipment of plants from Illinois. ID help would be welcome.

Fishing Spider
This is a female fishing spider (Dolomedes tenebrosus). It also looks like she is expecting... :)

She is not dangerous to people. If you let her go, she'll wander out into the fields/forest, and won't be a concern.

Nice images!

Fishing Spider
Thanks, Christopher. I will let her go right now!
