Platycryptus undatus - jumping spiders with earwig - Platycryptus californicus

Platycryptus undatus - jumping spiders with earwig - Platycryptus californicus
Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah, USA
July 1, 2006
I found this tiny jumping spider eating what I think is an earwig (pincers at the end). When I got the photo processed I saw some spider legs at the other end (hiding under the wood). Two spiders sharing the same insect. Kinda cool!

Moved
Moved from Platycryptus arizonensis.

Platycryptus californicus suggested by G.B. Edwards, who obviously knows more about these beasts than myself.

Not two jumping spiders...
but one Salticid and one Thomisid (possibly Coriarachne). Look carefully and you can see one of the eyes of the crab spider, and also to the left of the legs you can see the cream colored abdomen. What a great picture!

I think you're right.
I noticed the hidden spider has some biceps like the crab spider. Thanks for noticing the difference in the spiders.
