Thanks Bob. I searched for this genus and found a key by Cushman, 1937. Had to try it a few times since I'm not familiar at all (yet!) with these insects but eventually, the result I got is
Exetastes nervulus rufofemoratus
. This specimen is an excellent match with the description of the key.
From EOL, the
E. nervulus
subspecies are now included in
E. fornicator
, so that'd make it
Exetastes fornicator rufofemoratus
, if you agree. I will add a few extra close ups of the beast.

Revision
The Townes and Townes revision of 1978 is the latest work on North American
Exetastes
. They recognize many subspecies of the Eurasian
fornicator
, several of which are partly or largely sympatric. We are stuck with this mess for the time being.
