This guy put up a heck of a fight while I tried to take pictures of him or her! After I was finished I released it back into the wild. My wife thought I was crazy to even mess with it since I am severely severely allergic to their stings. So much so I have to carry an emergency EPI Pen so I don't die!

Polistes metricus - female
Males have a yellowish face (including part of the compound eyes) and slenderer, hooked 13-segmented antennae.
