Chrysomelidae - Rhabdopterus

Chrysomelidae - Rhabdopterus
Ames - Tullamore, Story County, Iowa, USA
July 8, 2010
Size: 5 mm
I found this beetle on Enchanter's nightshade, Circaea lutetiana, although I did not observe it feeding so there may be no connection between beetle and plant. I have noticed this feeding pattern on this plant species for several years. As curious as I am as to what is feeding on the plant in this distinctive pattern, I can't seem to remember to look often or look at the correct time. This plant species is not listed in Host Plants of Leaf Beetle Species.
