Gleaming Darkling Beetle (aka Rainbow Beetle) - Tarpela micans
Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, USA
May 19, 2007
Size: Largish,less than an inch
I see these around my porch lights from time to time. I am thinking ground beetle of some sort, but I'm not finding it, so maybe I'm off base and that's why I'm not having success in finding the ID? Nice iridescence in the species. Any help with ID is appreciated.

Tarpela sp.

That certainly explains it....
I was off base on where I was looking -- and I get another family for my (amateur) beetle presentation. Thanks for the quick ID!
