Firefly (Lampyridae)?

Firefly (Lampyridae)?
Cape Falcon, Osweld West State Park, Tillamook County, Oregon, USA
July 10, 2011
Found in a Sitka spruce dominated temperate coniferous rainforest at 5pm. I think it was near 1" in length but can not remember 100% and did not measure the specimen. I am not sure if this is a larva or an adult female. Pretty sure it is of the family of Lampyridae since the lateral protrusions, head, and segment shapes.

thanks, Joe.

it's a lampyrid larva alright
it's a lampyrid larva alright; maybe Ellychnia, but we don't have a taxonomy for them yet and there are others of that size range up in the pacific northwest that are all unknown too; feed it snails and try to get a rearing...

I'll try that next time I fin
I'll try that next time I find one but I don't see the larva often nor am I up in the far NW corner of Oregon often. I am planning on heading up there, northwest Coast Range, again this year so maybe I might be lucky and see another.
