Another tick - Ixodes - male

Another tick - Ixodes - Male
Stebbins Cold Canyon Reserve, Solano County, California, USA
January 29, 2012
Size: 1-2 mm long
This was found wandering on my dog and the location reflects where this was likely came from since ticks are far more common there then in Davis, California. Would I be correct in thinking this may be a different species then the Ixodes I found at Stebbins the day before?

Male
This is a male Ixodes. The other pictured tick is a female in the same genus.

Specimen
I still have it alive for now, if anyone is interested in looking at it closer I'd be willing to provide it if I can be informed on the proper preparation methods. If not, I will release it away from my house.
