Scarites subterraneus

Scarites subterraneus
Tremont/Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, USA
January 29, 2012
Collected January 29th. Found outside on apartment patio actually on top of a patch of snow! It was a relatively warm winter day but there was still some snow on the ground. I figured although this is a common species, the collection info might be worth posting.

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

The reason for naming this one among 3 possible Scarites
species known in northcentral USA would be appreciated. Important measurement of the total body length was not submitted for this otherwise beautifully photographed dorsal habitus.

Of course...
Total length is 18mm and the length of elytra are 9 mm. Also, I confirmed that the distal antennomeres are truly moniliform.

Thanks --
I was not sure if the name had come from Guy (image-only assessment) and/or you.

apologies
for moving so fast....
