Unknown - Pachyschelus purpureus
West Foss Farm, Durham, New Hampshire, USA
September 27, 2011
Size: 5 mm?
Sorry for the poor quality. This was taking through an OLYMPUS SZX10 microscope and the pictures wound up with an annoying blur (the camera stand is slightly loose).
I think this might be a chrysomelid of some flavor.
The white markings on the elytra are reflective setae.

While similar, the specimen I caught was solid black, at least with the naked eye the setal patches. Still, the reflection of the light does make it seem slightly blue, though maybe not as much a P. purpureus. :))

Buprestidae
Pachyschelus sp. perhaps?
