Sphinx Moth Caterpillar - Darapsa choerilus

Sphinx Moth Caterpillar - Darapsa choerilus
West Greenwich, Kent County, Rhode Island, USA
July 28, 2000
This caterpillar was found in pine woods. The horn appears to be blue-colored. I have no idea which species it might be.

Darapsa
The three larvae of the genus Darapsa are very similar. This however is Darapsa choerilus, evident by the straight blue caudal horn, both of the other two species have downward curving caudal horns.
