New for Kansas if it is a Painted Lady

Moved from Frass.

Such A Nice Image
To be relegated to Frass.

We like the spotted
cucumber beetle too! We're assuming you are suggesting it be moved back, so we will.

I didn't want to "clutter" the site with extraneous images

Moved from Painted Lady.

Yes, Painted Lady... for BugGuide in Kansas but I don't think for Kansas. This is a very widespread -- and strongly migrant -- species.

Its always nice to see the underside to get a good check for American Lady, but your specimen lacks a white spot in the orange field "below" the apical dark patch on forewing that would indicate American Lady.

There are other subtile clues. I've been fortunate enough to observe all three: Painted Lady, American Lady and West Cost Lady side-by-side. I've also observed some sort of intergrades....

Vanessa cardui is also
common in Colorado.
