I almost missed noticing this beautiful carabid. Lots of ground beetles come to my lights, but I've seen almost all of them before. This one was climbing at an angle to the light and I couldn't see its outstanding colors. But I did notice a brighter-than-normal gleam from the elytra and figured it was worth checking out through the camera lens. What a surpise to see these vivid colors when I dumped my load of beetles into my light arena.
