Carpenter Bee? - Xylocopa tabaniformis - male

Carpenter Bee? - Xylocopa tabaniformis - Male
West Clear Creek, Coconino National Forest, Mogollon Rim, Yavapai County, Arizona, USA
April 25, 2011
The habitat is typical Southwest riparian forest - sycamore, cottonwood, willow - bordered closely by desert upland with mesquite and hackberry. I believe the flower is a Penstemon. I have another image to post, but not sure if they're the same individual... so, I'll post it separate.
