Washington PA - Pieris rapae - Male
Washington PA, Washington County
Size: 15-20 mm
This little critter appeared in my kitchen January 26, 2011 when I took the pix and then he reappeared again January 2012 ...that's the only times I have seen it...

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

both years you probably had a Cabbage Worm
(the caterpillar these come from) that wandered in, or hitched a ride on some vegetables, then pupated inside the house. The butterflies then emerged early inside the warm house.

Cabbage White
Species Pieris rapae see here(1)

Nice photo! Welcome to Bug Guide!
