There is something white on it's back just above the last set of black legs. I wonder if this is some sort of parasite. I've included this close-up of that object but it's kind of fuzzy since it is only about 0.2mm in length.

Parasite
Definitely a parasite. Some day we'll know more about all the numerous parasites and parasitoids that attack caterpillars. I managed to raise a few parasitic Hymenoptera and they can be quite interesting.
