Spined Oak Borer? - Parelaphidion aspersum

Spined Oak Borer? - Parelaphidion aspersum
Alexandria, Fairfax County, Virginia, USA
August 6, 2008
I think that's what the spines on the antennae are telling me, or do I have it confused with another?

Mike Thomas says: "I gotta go with Parelaphidion aspersum... .
"Elaphidion mucronatum just doesn't have the median glabrous area so large and distinct and the spine on the 3rd antennomere is not big enough for E. mucronatum."

Moved from Elaphidiini.

hmmm... antennal spines look shortish
...still, can't think of a viable alternative to E. mucronatum (Parelaphidion aspersum as a remote possibily?)
let's wait for a 2nd op
Moved from Longhorned Beetles.

Elaphidion mucronatum
I see long antennal and elytral spines. Plus there are femoral spines (look at the distal left meso and metafemora). Has to be Elaphidion mucronatum.

Thank you
