Yes,

Haemaphysalis can be distinguished by a hexagonal-shaped basis capitulum (head) excluding the mouthparts.

Haemaphysalis?

It's my understanding Haemaphysalis has angularly-produced palpomere II, but the basis capituli is rectangular? This is based on both Keirans and Litwak's key and the Pictorial Key we put out at the CDC.

Also, shouldn't Haemaphysalis have no eyes? This appears to have eyes (either that or pale maculae where the eyes should be).

If this truly has an angulate basis capituli and eyes, shouldn't this be Rhipacephalus sanguineus?

You are absolutely correct, this is R. sanguineus. My mistake. Haemaphysalis has no eyes, rectangular BC, broad palpal femur. Oops.
