Aquatic beetle - Hydrochus
Enumclaw, King County, Washington, USA
August 21, 2011
Size: ~4 mm
Collected at MV lights at night, near White River just south of Enumclaw. Aquatic beetle? Too big for Hydraenidae, possible Hydrophilidae or Dryopidae. Help appreciated.

Beyond genus, I don't have a clue about these guys. Maybe Tim Loh will be able to take the ID further.

If male
needs dissection to get further and so far I don't know how to sex these guys externally.
