Plecoptera - Allocapnia - male - female

Plecoptera - Allocapnia - Male Female
Plymouth Rock, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA
February 20, 2012
Size: 9 mm
Guessing at size, 8-10mm.
Found on the underside of a piece of limestone on the bank of the Upper Iowa River.
D Heimdal says: "Allocapnia prob. granulata. I have also collected A. rickeri and A. pygmaea from northeast Iowa, but would need a closer look to confirm. I have found Allocapnia rickeri mainly from the smaller streams and A. pygmaea from the Turkey and Volga Rivers. Both species are typically smaller than Allocapnia granulata."
