A little larger that Hahncappsia fordi with ground color paler and markings weaker. (1)

Hahncappsia fordi is a bit smaller than alpinensis with ground color not as pale and stronger markings. It is not clear if the range of fordi extends westward as far as southeast Arizona where it could potentially overlap with the range of alpinensis. (1)
Helvibotys helvialis is an eastern species ranging from Massachusetts and Ontario south to Florida and west to Brownsville, TX. Note that the ranges of H. alpinensis and H. helvialis overlap at Brownsville, TX. (1)
