Anoplius cleora - Headland Dunes, near Painesville, Lake County, Ohio, USA July 25, 2003 Size: ~15 mm
This shows perfectly the long, rather dense hairs that cover the head and thorax of the subgenus Lophopompilus. Also noticeable are the very long comb-spines of a psammophilous spider wasp.
