Not likely winnemana in Arkansas
T. pruinosus replaces T. winnemana west of the Miss. R.
(Range suggests some overlap and blending between the two taxa across the mid-South.). Hard to tell from this pic, but this cicada lacks the paired pruinose spots of a pruinosus (any other images or resolution?)

Possible auriferus/davisi-harnedi group. The angle of the image makes head to thorax width difficult to determine. Both of the previously listed taxa occur in Arkansas.

Was this cicada less than 2 inches in total length (head to wing tip)?

I did have to shrink the pict
I did have to shrink the picture some, so possibly I have the original on my jump drive at home which should be a better resolution. As for remembering the length, I don't even remember taking this picture, though in the order, the before and after pictures I had with it, puts it about 1/4 mile down stream of where I found Walker's.
I did rotate the picture 90 degrees! Honestly I had no interest in cicada's until you emailed me. The next time I see them, I will be doing a better evaluation of the situation! I will email the higher resolution to you this evening.

Best Guess - Tibicen sp. (davisi harnedi ?)
Given this picture (I did copy and adjust contrast for some added details), it's probably not going to be possible to say with 100% certainty, but the visible physical traits are suggestive and the range (e. Arkansas) consistent with T. davisi harnedi.

(??...Looks like the outer edges of the forewings are a bit smoky - also suggestive)

Tibicen davisi harnedi
