This mite was collected from soil and detritus under a log in a conifer forest on Elk Mtn., Forest Rd. 645A, 11,209’ altitude, Elk Mountain 7.5’ quadrangle, San Miguel Co., NM. I've placed it tentatively under Poecilochirus based on close similarity to other posted mites, but request expert confirmation.

Follow-up: Family and genus identification has been provided by David E. Walter. See commentary on ventral view page for details.

This image is from a CombineZP processed stack of 139 images with a 5.6 micron step taken with a Nikon CF BD Plan 10X 0.30NA microscope objective + Nikon 200 mm F4 telephoto camera lens + Nikon D300 camera (magnification 10X; technique described here).
