Sassafras Caloptilia Moth - Hodges #0633 - Caloptilia sassafrasella

Sassafras Caloptilia Moth - Hodges #0633 - Caloptilia sassafrasella
Mobile (Dog River), Mobile County, Alabama, USA
March 5, 2012
Looks different form my usual Azalea Leafminer. Perhaps a Sumac Leafblotch Miner - Hodges #0630

Moved

C. sassafrasella
I would call this Caloptilia sassafrasella. It is a bit more mahogany brown than C. rhoifoliella, which is more of a charcoal color. Also, C. sassafrasella has the forewings unusually slender in relation to length, even for a Caloptilia, and that looks to be the case here.
