wasp - Earinus - Male
Donalds, Abbeville County, South Carolina, USA

Pimplinae?

Moved
Moved from Earinus limitaris.

Revision of species by Sharkey (2022)(1) has split the older treatment of E. limitaris into 4 species (plus additional undescribed) that now require seeing the punctation of the face to key species.

Moved
ID confirmed by Dr. Sharkey.

I should not have spelled the name limitarius.

Moved from ID Request.

Braconidae
Note the bluish hew of the eye. To me, that suggests Agathidinae. Others have very recently submitted photos of females of Earinus limitarius, and this photo agrees well with that of the male of E. limitarius photographed and collected Tom Murray:

thanks
it's so great to learn here, distinctions like the blue eye.. thank you!
