Size: <5 mm.
These were swimming and occasionally hopping on the surface of a vernal creek running from a cattail marsh down to the Des Plaines River.

Given the quality of the photo, I thought I'd be lucky to get a genus out of this. Thanks. I guess this is the first record for the Guide for Illinois, too.
