Could you add a closer crop of just a few of the eggs? A size estimate would be helpful too.

Maybe ~1.5mm or so. I can get a definite measurement tomorrow. they seem embedded and laid end to end in a sort of furrow in the twig.

Closer to 1mm; I overestimated initially. I'm trying to remind myself to take actual measurements with my ruler more often!

That's what I thought I was seeing. I think they must be sawfly eggs, laid in a slit created by the female's sawlike ovipositor. If it is elm, maybe Cimbex americana?
