Pink Scavenger Moth - Hodges #1512
Moved from
Florida Pink Scavenger Moth
.
Steve,
I think this was yet another case of tunnel vision. I really wanted it to be a Florida Pink, so I would have accounted for Jan - Nov. Thanks for once again, saving me from myself.

ID Question
How did you determine this isn't
Pyroderces rileyi
? I'm not saying the ID is wrong, just sorting out my own images and am curious.

Now you mention ...
I'm wondering, too. I think I may have placed out of habit (adding image to previous post, then unlinking).
P. badia
is more common and likely choice but this specimen does look more like my only confirmed
P. rileyi
and seems to conform to BP's
comment
, "In P. rileyi the hindwing has a median white streak with a dorsolateral row of brown scales. In P. badia the median white streak is unicolorous."
I am presently researching these and will be updating guide pages, so we can sort them out.
