Black & red beetle - Babia quadriguttata

Black & red beetle - Babia quadriguttata
West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA
July 4, 2006
Size: 3/8"
Was happily munching away on a mullin until I got to close and it flew away

Moved
Moved from Clytrini.

Reminds us of
Babia quadriguttata, in the Chrysomelidae, for example , but there are so many Leaf beetles, it is only a guess on our part!

Babia quadriguttata
yes it is Babia quadriguttata
The short serrate antennae and shiny, feebly punctate upper surface will separate it from other black and red Cryptocephalinae
