Tragosoma pilosicorne

Tragosoma pilosicorne
Cuyamaca Woods, Julian, Cuyamaca Mountains, San Diego County, California, USA
July 24, 2011
Size: 22 mm
Came to a black light on my patio at 4200 feet. Oaks of three species and some pines in the area. It is noticeably smaller and darker than several specimens of T. depsarium that I have, and has little hair on the pronotum.

what an impressive, fine beast!

I was pretty excited when I realized what it was!
I usually don't put the light on as much in late July, which might be why I haven't seen these before.
