looks like a scirtid larva
the only beetle larvae with those roach-like antennae, as far as i know
hope Dr Chandler tells us more

 
Thanks! This was a very perplexing critter for me
I have seen adults of Cyphon collaris and Prionocyphon limbata in the area, if that helps.

 
Prionocyphon, more likely
don't take my word for it, though: larvae is not my forte
