Alucitidae: Alucita montana? - Alucita montana
Turtle River State Park, Grand Forks County, North Dakota, USA
March 18, 2012
Size: Wingspread ~ 5-7 mm
This specimen may be an example of the Six-plume Moth (2323). It was one of three that I photographed today. Three specimens were collected (on 24 March) and they are archived in the NDSIRC at NDSU, Fargo, North Dakota (contact Dr. Gerald Fauske). A tissue sample from this specimen, taken for later DNA analysis, is archived at UND, Grand Forks, North Dakota (contact Dr. Rebecca Simmons).
