antlion? - Brachynemurus abdominalis

antlion? - Brachynemurus abdominalis
Box Elder near Box Elder Creek (with water), Pennington County, South Dakota, USA
July 7, 2006
Size: about 1-1/4 inches
ID is from Aaron Michael Peterson.

This one does not have "opalescent eyes" or wings as big as the others I have seen here, but otherwise it looks like one to me.

I have read that they are hard to ID by genus. I have found other similar antlion images to this one so unless anybody wants to correct me, I am moving these to the antlion guide!

Thanks for the help!

How does one tell male vs female?
