Dixella possibly nova - Dixella

Dixella possibly nova - Dixella
Edmonton, urban yard with pond, Strathcona, Alberta, Canada
March 29, 2012
Size: body 4-5mm long
Dixella sp. Meniscus Midge adult

Could be Dixella californica
Dixella californica has a nice wing spot as well. The orange laterally on scutum makes me think maybe it is this species.

Do you mind if I use this image?
I'm a grad student at the University of Wisconsin and I'm doing a presentation on the Dixidae for my Advanced Taxonomy of Diptera class.

Sure!
Hi Natalie:

Sure, feel free to use the image. Thanks very much for asking!

Cheers,
Heather

Thanks!
