In the firewood stack - Nycteus oviformis

In the firewood stack - Nycteus oviformis
Loudon, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, USA
March 31, 2012
I had to mess around with my brand-new Canon 7D and 65mm macro lens. I brought in firewood today and found a couple of beetles as test subjects. I knew the depth of field is an issue with this lens so I took 85 shots as different lens magnifications in hopes of getting some that made the grade. It looks like I need to get a bit more flash onto the subject as well. I'm using indirect flash bounced around inside my light arena. One nice thing is the lack of color distortion now that I'm able to shoot through a real camera lens instead of one ripped out of a defunct black & white photocopier.

Photography details:
Canon EOS 7D
65mm lens
f/5.6
1/125 second
ISO-400

I definitely need a stronger flash bounce.

Thank you, Belov.
I guess I'll move it then.
