Unidentified moth - Sphinx vashti

Unidentified moth - Sphinx vashti
Glacier National Park, Flathead County, Montana, USA
Size: 74 X 31 mm
This specimen is housed in the Glacier National Park archive with very little information attached. The tag and database list the species as, "Hyloicus vancouverensis Edwards" , but I can find no reference to this. There is no collection sight or date listed. The specimen measures 74 X 31 mm. Will appreciate any help in identifying the correct current species.

Wow! You sure do move fast! Thanks for the ID and the synonym info.

(1)
Hyloicus vancouverensis Edwards.
Syn. vashti Strecker.

There are two forms of this hawkmoth, one, Hyloicus vancouverensis vancouverensis in which the middle of the thorax is pale gray, and the other, Hyloicus vancouverensis albescens, which has a very dark thorax, and which is figured on our plate. The moth is found from northern California to British Columbia, and eastward to Montana and Alberta.

Well, that's proof enough for me!

A number of Sphinx look like this.
Someone will recognize it for you.

EDIT: Looks like Ryan did!

Sphinx vashti is my best guess. Let's see if anyone else confirms/disputes this ID before I move it to the correct species page.
