Red/Black Wasp? - Pachodynerus erynnis

Red/Black Wasp? - Pachodynerus erynnis
Long Key, Monroe County, Florida, USA
March 31, 2012
Size: 2cm
Saw quite a few of these on the ground. This one had it's wings open but a lot of them had wings straight back over abdomen. Male/Female?

Did some looking around....
Might be the Red-marked Pachodynerus (Pachodynerus erynnis):

However, there are similar species, so wait to hear from the experts.

I think this one is the "true" P. erynnis...
Because similar red marked species (namely FL populations of Euodynerus boscii and E. castigatus) have a translucent apical rim on T1, not visible here.

Moved from ID Request.

Please click on "edit" and fix the county information for all of your images. They currently say "Florida Keys County," when I'm thinking they should say "Monroe County."

Also, please try to crop your pics as close to "just the bug" as possible. Only you and the editors can see the full-size image. Everyone else is left looking at a little bug in a lot of unnecessary background. :)
