Is this a Leptoglossus species?

Yes.

I think this is Leptoglossus oppositus. Compare below:

No, the assassin bugs are in a different family

- see Reduviidae in the guide. Although they are both in the order Hemiptera (true bugs), assassins do not have the leaf-like projections on the hind legs, they have a constricted neck, and most importantly they have a short stabbing beak for attacking their prey - these leaf-footed bugs have a longer more strawlike beak for sucking plant juices.
