Teneral adult? - Diaperis maculata

Teneral adult? - Diaperis maculata
Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
July 7, 2006
When I recently broke apart shelf fungus samples that have been producing an abundance of errant D. maculata, I found two larvae plus this beetle, which I assumed was a teneral (just eclosed from pupa) adult that had not colored up yet. However, after two days of no color change, the beetle has died, so I was unable to confirm my suspicions. I have the opportunity to test anew in the two larvae I found.
