Ant - Camponotus snellingi - female

Ant - Camponotus snellingi - Female
Gates, Gates County, North Carolina, USA
April 1, 2010
Size: ?
Came across this one in some old images - only image available.

Moved from Ants.

Camponotus snellingi - young queen
A so-called "dealated" reproductive female, i.e. having just shed off her wings after swarming and having mated.

Carpenter ant queen
