Large black and gray spider in a funnel shaped web. - Kukulcania hibernalis - Female
Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama, USA
April 9, 2012
Size: 1.25"
This spider lives in the upper part of the window in our apartment in Birmigham, AL. This spider is fairly large, fuzzy and black with a gray abdomen. She catches flies by darting out, grabs the fly and scurries back into her webs hole. A day or so later, she will discard the fly's dried out carcass.
