Unknown Egg sac

Unknown Egg sac
near the Pacolet River in a wooded area., Spartanburg County, South Carolina, USA
April 10, 2012
Size: 3/4'
It was in soft dirt beside an old dead stump, and it is quite soft itself. Looks and feels like some kind of fiber...like a dryer sheet. It must be some kind of egg sac, don't you think? I have other images of it. One that shows where it looks glued together on the edges.

Just guessing here...
... but what about a wolf spider egg sac ? The females carry them around, and I suppose this one could have become separated from the mother. I do remember reading that they can sometimes be a bluish color.

Maybe
but that egg sac looks pretty large. Most wolf spider egg sacs aren't very big. If it's a wolf spider egg sac I'd guess it's one from a large species... maybe something in the Hogna genus.

Does your egg have edges like this one?

How about Dolomedes?
According to (1) (sorry, I don't remember where the info originally came from), Pisaurina egg sacs are a bit more than 1 cm across, and Dolomedes egg sacs are about 2 cm [=3/4", which is the size given for this one].

Dolomedes
Yes, the egg sac does appear to be round. I think the wolf spider egg sacs are more of a flattened round shape. Dolomedes is certainly a good candidate both in size & shape.

egg sac
The egg sac is flattened round shape and about 3/4 inch and I'm sorry I don't know metric. I need to learn it, one is never too old to learn. Eileen
