Longhorned beetle - Haplidus testaceus

Longhorned beetle - Haplidus testaceus
Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico, USA
April 11, 2012
Size: 16mm
He/She looks like Arhopalus rusticus but the antenna seem too long ? How do I tell if it is a male or female? It's been hanging around a small woodpile and seems to be annoyed by the wind we are having lately. What does it eat since I haven't seen it attempt to eat anything?

check Paranoplium
just a guess

I like
Liberedaxia deslauriersi Alten, Alten & Ramey. The shape of the pronotum looks closer, at least for a female. Plus it has been recorded from Arizona while Paranoplium has only been recorded from California. We really need somebody more familiar with the western fauna to take a look. This may be one of those cases where we're going to need a specimen to examine.

Paranoplium
After reading your post, I went and captured the suspect beetle. I interrogated him but he wouldn't tell me what he was. I can take more detailed photos if they would help.

great; pls do your best to obtain a nice plain dorsal view

I blew it! I'm attaching two more photos (discard as you choose) to verify light levels when the patient little bug made a dash for it and disappeared into the log pile. Couldn't find him...Sorry
