Folding door spider - Antrodiaetus

Folding door spider - Antrodiaetus

Digging in the garden found this spider. Any other info would be great. Is it a female or male?

Female.
Nice image of a female Antrodiaetus! You can tell she is female by the single tergite (dark, sclerotized patch) on her abdomen. Mature males have three such plates. This is indicative of the most primitive of spiders (retention of abdominal segmentation). Neat find. She is relatively pale, and may have molted recently.

Thanks for the info Eric. Will watch out for a male. There are a few small holes in the garden where I found this one while digging a little.
