Tick - Amblyomma americanum
Sand Springs, Osage County, Oklahoma, USA

Size: 3mm (1/8")
Due to this tick's small size I have to ask. Can immature ticks become engorged like this or is this a particular species?

Moved from Hard Ticks.

Moved from ID Request.

yes, nymphs can become engorged like this. Engorged individuals can be difficult to ID because some features (such as festoons and anal grooves) become difficult to see.

This specimen has long mouthparts, so thinking Ixodes or Amblyomma.
